This program is designed for adults in diversified basic secondary education who want to understand the technological world around them and use it with ease. It also enables them to acquire optional units to complete the missing credits needed to obtain their Secondary 5 diploma.
The Computer Science block is designed for adults who want to master the techniques of producing and communicating computerized documents, whether for personal, professional or academic use. Office automation tools fall into three main categories: document production tools (word processing, assisted presentation, etc.), management tools (spreadsheet, database, etc.) and communication tools (e-mail, videoconferencing, etc.).
This course is designed to develop learners' proficiency in advanced word processing techniques, with a particular emphasis on document structure, styles, and layout. Through the use of specialized formatting tools, learners produce professional-quality text documents, critically assess their output against established standards, and build confidence in the principles of effective document design.
This course provides adult learners with the skills to apply advanced formatting functions within word-processing software, with a focus on structuring documents using sections and tables. Through a combination of theoretical instruction and practical application, learners develop the ability to produce professionally formatted documents and to evaluate their work in relation to recognized quality standards.
This course enables adult learners to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to solve problems using spreadsheet formulas and functions. Through experiential learning activities, learners will design, modify, and critically assess spreadsheets to ensure alignment with established quality and performance criteria.
This course develops adult learners' capacity to analyze and synthesize data through the use of electronic spreadsheet applications. Learners engage in applied tasks to generate charts and pivot tables, employ relevant analytical functions, and assess the accuracy and clarity of their data presentations in accordance with established quality standards.
This course aims to provide adult learners with a foundational understanding of key database concepts, including data retrieval, modification, and presentation. Through a range of applied learning activities, learners develop proficiency in constructing queries and reports, editing table data, and utilizing integrated support tools, while consistently evaluating their work against defined quality benchmarks.
This course fosters the development of analytical reasoning and structured planning skills necessary for the design and construction of relational databases. Adult learners engage in authentic, task-based learning experiences through which they critically assess their design processes and ensure the production of high-quality database solutions.
This course supports adult learners in enhancing their communication skills through the creation of multimedia slide presentations using presentation software such as PowerPoint (2016 or Microsoft 365). Through practical, task-based activities, learners develop competencies in designing, formatting, and refining presentations to convey information clearly and effectively.
